There is a softness and vulnerability to the lyrics of Movies that translated into empowerment and fun on the album version. Written during a stay in Los Angeles, the song evokes the feeling of being lost amongst people with different emotional backgrounds and love languages. The lyrics refer to a very specific dilemma: to succumb and become the perfect partner or to defend one's position, to stay true to oneself and to put an end to a relationship that is running out of steam. The Softest Version brings out the feeling of loneliness that inspired its story. This new version’s softly sung melody and stacked vocals recalls Milk & Bone’s identity in the duo’s early days. A friend of the band, David Tanton (Tender Spring, Afternoon Bike Ride), plays guitar on Movies (Softest Version).
